Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors consists of a President, Vice President, a Treasurer, and additional voting members which include a representative from the Unit’s volunteer program and one of the Mounted Patrol Officers.

Diane K. Mack-President.

Diane has been an active member of Friends of the Bethelehem Mounted Police since 2013, and has been serving on the FBMP Board as President since 2017. Having served as an Assistant Controller in the food service distribution industry for 34 years, Diane contributes a wealth of knowledge and experience to the day-to-day operations of this volunteer organization.

Diane received her B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Scranton, and is a Certified Payroll Professional and Paytrain University Instructor for the American Payroll Association.  In her spare time, Diane enjoys attending theater and concerts, home remodeling projects, spending time with her horse Eagle (pictured above), and volunteering with the Mounted Patrol Unit.  Honored to serve on the Board, she is a Lehigh Valley resident and shares her home with three rescued cats and a rescued dog.

 

James Bartholomew - Vice President.

Jim Bartholomew is a lifelong resident of Bethlehem, PA.  He and his wife of 48 years, Gina have three sons and two grandchildren.

Jim is a graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School and Upper Iowa University.  He currently is the Sr. Executive Vice President for Embassy Bank for the Lehigh Valley.

Jim and his family have always been strong supporters of our military and police.  This along with Gina’s love of horses made volunteering on the board of The Friends of the Bethlehem Mounted Police seem like the perfect fit for him.

 
 

Marissa Zondag.

A longtime Bethlehem resident and a 2013 graduate of Moravian University, Marissa has been involved in the Bethlehem community throughout her college and professional career.  With 16 years of competitive horseback riding experience, she served as captain of Moravian’s equestrian team and became involved with the Mounted Patrol through educational programs. 

Continuing as club advisor to the equestrian team, Marissa also is employed at Moravian University as a Leadership Gift Officer and Director of the Leadership Council. She also serves as the secretary of the Alumni Executive Board at Moravian Academy, and on the board of the Association for Fundraising Professionals, Eastern PA Chapter. Marissa notes, “Serving Friends of the Bethlehem Mounted Police along with involvement with the horses and officers is truly to be in the presence of greatness and being a small part of the small but mighty machine that supports this Unit has been and continues to be a great joy in my life.”

 

Herman Rij.

Herm is a Founding Partner in Quadrant Private Wealth in May 2014 after 43 1/2 yrs. at Merrill Lynch. He was recognized by Barron’s Magazine as a Top Financial  Advisor from  2009 thru 2014. He earned a CIMA designation with IMCA ( Investment Management Consultants Association). Herm graduated from Albright College in 1966 with a BS in Economics and post graduate at Lehigh University in 1969 where he earned an MBA. He has been  married to Claire Risbon Rij since 1967. Herm has two daughters,Kori Lannon and Becky Rij Flynn, along with five granddaughters, Kerry, Elizabeth, Lora, Teegan, and Riley. His hobbies include reading, golf and hanging out with his two dogs, Swedie and Phinney.

Kori joined our board in 2019, following in the footsteps of her father Herman Rij, one of the founding members of the organization.  She was raised in Bethlehem only a couple of miles from our barn, attended Liberty High School, and graduated from Brown University with a double major in Business Economics and Mathematics.  Kori lived and worked in banking in Chicago for 13 years before moving back to the Lehigh Valley with her husband and children.  She believes in the power of the mounted unit to build trust and relationships between law enforcement officers and the communities they serve, and admires the strong bond and dedication between our officers and our horses.  

Kori is in the investment advisory business with Quadrant Private Wealth, and leads a busy life with children active in lacrosse and field hockey.  She enjoys her three pets, the beach, reading, golf, and the Chicago Cubs, and tries to keep up with running to stay healthy and feel grounded. 



 
 

Linda Adams - Volunteer Liaison.

Linda, a lifelong resident of the Lehigh Valley, works in the Department of Nuclear Medicine at Lehigh Valley Health Network-Muhlenberg. She and her husband Jeff live in Bethlehem Township. They have two grown sons, Greg and Ben. In her spare time, she enjoys Hiking, Yoga, Reading, and spending time with family and friends. With a passion for the Mounted Patrol and a deep appreciation for what the volunteer corps means to the Unit, Linda is honored to serve as the Volunteer Liaison to the Board of Directors.

 

Hon. Emil Giordano.

Emil Giordano is a graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School. He went on to Penn State Allentown before graduating from Moravian College in 1982. After completing his undergraduate degree, he attended Villanova Law School and graduated in 1985.

In 2003, he was elected to serve as Judge on the Northampton County Court of Common Pleas where he served for 15 years before retiring in 2018 after which he became a member of Norris, McLaughlin, LLC. He has deep love of his horses that comes from his late father Joseph Giordano.

 
 

Elyse Holben.

With a a family member in law enforcement who was a canine officer for over fourteen years, Elyse is thrilled to serve on the FBMP Board of Directors. As a city resident, she immediately felt connected to the organization’s mission and values, and recognized the benefit the Mounted Unit provides to the surrounding community.

Elyse is the Associate Director of Development, P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science at Lehigh University. She also actively sits on the Junior League of Lehigh Valley’s Board of Directors. In 2020, Elyse graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) with a dual degree in Communications Media and Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations and earned her Master’s in Public Administration from Kutztown University.

In her spare time, she loves watching local sports as well as taking in all the great music venues and entertainment the Lehigh Valley offers.

 

Carol Saeger.

A lifelong native of Bethlehem., Carol graduated from Liberty High School and Northampton Community College.  She worked at LVHN before staying home to raise her two children.  Upon return to the work force, Carol joined Just Born Quality Confections where she ultimately became involved with grant administration.

In this capacity, Carol was instrumental in facilitating Just Born’s inaugural adoption of Pharaoh in the Adopt-a-Horse Program.  In addition, Carol also furthered Just Born’s support to assist in funding what has grown to be Quadrant Private Wealth Stable Facility. Acting as liaison between Just Born and the FBMP has been a highlight in Carol’s career.

Having retired from Just Born, Carol now enjoys time with her family and continues to serve on several Lehigh Valley boards.  She especially enjoys devoting more time and talent to the FBMP and making sure Pharaoh gets his special treat…Marshmallow PEEPS®, which he LOVES!
